Miami County Trial Courts Overview

Miami County Court History
The Miami Circuit Court page provides unusually specific local history. It states that Miami Circuit Court was created when Miami County was established by the Indiana General Assembly in 1834. For 55 years, Miami County shared circuit judges with one or more counties. Since 1889, Miami County has had its own judicial circuit. The court has met in the current courthouse location since the Miami County Courthouse, described as the third courthouse built on Peru's public square, opened at the start of 1911.
